New Avenue Homes, builder of a popular NZE tiny house in Berkeley, has a new Clean Tech Exhibit home on display in San Jose.Â The home has a living room, kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, storage, and all sorts of green technology and sustainable materials.Â New Avenue prefabricated the structure and estimates that a home of this size costs about $70,000 to build and permit, not including upgrades or special circumstances.
New Avenue specializes in backyard cottages, ADUs, and second units.Â The company has twelve projects underway and keeps this showcase open every Saturday from 9am – 12pm across the street from the City Hall of San Jose.
The green home has a Miele appliance package, Moen kitchen fixtures, Rohl bathroom fixtures, Velux skylights and sun tunnels, Jeldwen windows and doors, a Sanyo mini-split, a Panasonic ERV, Bonded Logic insulation, IceStone counters, Fireclay recycled glass tile, Trex decking, Mythic non-toxic paints, LED lights, and James Hardie siding.
New Avenue sells construction plans for the home for $399.00, but the company will also take a client through the full process from design, through zoning and permitting, and ending with the build.
