In an effort to find truly sustainable and beautiful commercial interior design, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Interiors & Sources magazine partnered to create the Bloom Awards. Now in its second year, the winners have just been released and will be recognized at NeoCon next month. These five products, according to a press release, successfully marry innovation and sustainability in their category.
Flooring: Powerbond Ethos Cushion
This Tandus product is 100% recyclable and made with 36-61% recycled content, including a minimum of 18% post-consumer content. The cushion is made of reclaimed windshield and safety glass.
Casegoods Furniture: Silea Desk System
This sleek Gunlocke system was designed to utilize the EPA’s Design for the Environment program. Both scalable and durable, it can be set up with FSC certified woods, high recycled content components, and LED task lighting.
Occasional Furniture: XCube
This Southern Aluminum folding base table is made with lightweight, durable aluminum and can be outfitted with optional LED underlighting to enhance food and beverage displays.
Innovative Materials: IceStone Refined Collection
This IceStone surface material is made with 100% recycled glass in a non-toxic cement base to provide a more uniform look with smaller pieces of glass.
Textiles/Wall Coverings: Tabrasa
This IdeaPaint/MDC Wallcoverings paint is eco-friendly and can transform most smooth surface into a high-performance dry erase surface. It’s formaldehyde-free and doesn’t off-gas after drying.
