I want to take a moment to thank you for voting for this site in the recent JDR Annual Industry Blogger Awards.  I’m happy to report that Jetson Green was nominated and won the Best Blogger: Green category.  It’s an honor we wouldn’t receive without the support of hundreds of dedicated readers.  In fact, a solid portion of what we cover is sourced from reader tips, emails, and suggestions, so this award is as much for the reader as it is for us.

I hope you’re enjoying Earth Day and taking it all in with an open mind. For many, it’s a time to get acquainted with the planet in a new way, and that’s a good thing.  I’m going to use some of the reader-submitted photos that we received for Earth Day for full articles in the next month.  In the mean time, if you have a green home or news tip, I’d like to invite you to share it with us.

I find myself more introspective every day as events unfold in Japan.  I lived there for an extended period of time and tried to master the language.  I see the faces of thousands of people that I met in my mind.  I’m on this planet to make a difference, to help people, and it hurts to see neighborhoods gone and air polluted.  What can be done?  Here are a few efforts that I’m seeing:

I’m happy to say we’ve been nominated as Best Green Blogger in the 2011 JDR Industry Blogger Awards.  It’s nice to be in the same company with some stiff competition such as the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.  I notice there’s a cash prize for the winner, and if we get that far, the funds will probably go straight to computers, cameras, or event travel.  Voting will remain open through April 15, 2011.  If you like what we do, feel free to vote for Jetson Green in the “green” category today.
