There's a lot of positive stuff going on for Jetson Green these days and we're sure having fun keeping up. Just this week, Stephanie from Apartment Therapy's Re-Nest gave me the grill on various green building topics and posted the "Green People" Q&A today. We talk about my biggest green inspiration, my biggest green frustration, promising green building products, my favorite green building project, and finish it up with some green advice. Don't miss the advice part -- you seriously need it! Thanks Re-Nest!

Well, I just want to kick out a shout to the writers at EarthFirst -- they've found a way to make us blush not just once, but twice. Much to my surprise, I was invited on their list of Top 25 Hottest Guys in Green: 10 We Missed Last Time (scroll down to #7). No worries, though, I'm working my way up the list, so hopefully you'll find me on the original Top 25 next year -- maybe somewhere between Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio?! But enough about me, how about Jetson Green contributor extraordinaire Sarah Meredith Roe! She made their list of Top 25 Hottest Girls in Green: 10 We Missed the First Time (scroll down to #3). Sarah beat out green belles such as Sheryl Crow, KT Turnstall, Amber Valetta, and Norah Jones, just to name a few. If that doesn't make a green writer blush, I'm not sure what does. Thanks EarthFirst for thinking of Jetson Green!

I want to take this quick opportunity to welcome any viewers dropping by from the Mountain Morning Show on Park City TV. I was on the show for a quick little bit talking about green building and what's going on right now. For a guy that's trying to work off four hectic years of grad school weight, the camera angle isn't that great, but we're making progress on that front. I want to thank the wonderful hosts and crew for having Jetson Green on their award-winning morning show!

I'd like to take a quick sec to invite you to join us at West Coast Green 2008. This will mark our 2nd year as a premiere Media Partner with what has now grown to be the world’s largest conference & expo on green innovation and green building! This year's event has a whole new look and a brand new location in the heart of Silicon Valley. The event takes place on September 25-27, 2008 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.

This year, unlike years in the past, JG has decided to take a serious look at the NBA Finals for the purpose of supporting the greenest team. If you've been tucked away on another planet, you might not know that the NBA Finals start tonight between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics. It's an age-old rivalry between two classic teams, and the Celtics are in the clear lead when playing each other (8-2 all time in NBA Finals). But we're not going for the Celtics because of their winning tradition, or the mad skills of Pierce, Garnett, Rondo, and Allen. We're not even pulling for the Celtics because Perkins has been going berserk in the Playoffs. We're going for the Celtics because they're GREEN. The color, that is. And as much as I like the Lakers, it's kind of hard to argue with that.

Been working under the hood again. Over the weekend, I installed a new comments system by a company called Disqus. Give it a go with a shout below, you'll like it. I decided to give the system a try because it will help increase the communal aspects of Jetson Green.
And some tech blogs such as A VC, Fake Steve, and Loic Le Meur use it. If you don't like it, let me know.

This is purely random, but I had no idea a person named "Jetson Green" actually existed. That's right. Sometime prior to July 1820, Jetson Green, a debtor, intermarried with Julian Bass, administratix. Their problems came before the Supreme Court of Alabama. I'd like to give you an idea of what was going on between Jetson and Julian, but seriously, try to give this opinion a read -- language sure has changed in 200 years (and I practice law for a living!). Anyway, it seems that good ole' Jetson Green did well by marrying the person to whom he was supposed to be paying a debt. At least for a short period of time, that is ... I'm constantly amazed at what shows up on the internet.

I've been thinking a lot about minimalism lately for some reason. We all have an idea of what "minimalism" is, but I wanted to dig a little deeper. According to Wikipedia, minimalism describes a movement where "work is stripped down to its most fundamental features ... it is rooted in the reductive aspects of Modernism, and is often interpreted as a reaction against abstract impressionism and a bridge to Postmodern art practices." Strip it down to the fundamentals.
I like the concept of stripping stuff down to the fundamentals. You can strip down anything and literally find that "less is more." Try it. I honestly believe that with the right amount of less, less can be more. Why is that? Well, quite simply because less equals the fundamentals and enjoying the fundamentals -- with no excess -- feels good. Let me explain my thoughts on the lifestyle of minimalism.
I'm happy to announce that Jetson Green has signed on as an official media sponsor for the Ecocity World Summit, which takes place April 22-26, 2008 in San Francisco, California. I couldn't be happier to be supporting such a stellar event.
You should know, however, that this is no ordinary conference. Ecocity World Summit recognizes it's time to take a closer look at the largest of humanity’s creations -- cities -- directly and fearlessly. Over 85% of humanity currently live in cities, towns, and villages –- the built community of our species. The Ecocity World Summit challenges and inspires each individual, no matter where we call home, to build something different: the city for ourselves, the city for people and all life on the planet. For a sneak peak, take a look at some of the projects that will be explored.
Speakers at the event include some of the following:
