Caravan Becomes a Lovely Tiny Home

We’ve seen trailers turned into tiny homes, so using a caravan for the same purpose is obviously not that big a stretch. Plus, caravans have the added bonus of being more whimsical in that it just takes you back to those fun carnivals you visited as a kid. At least that’s how I feel about them. (more…)

Sustainable Home Made of Straw Bale

Architect Nicolas Koff recently designed and built a modern and very sustainable home near Hamilton, Ontario. K-House, as the home is called is eco-friendly from the ground up and built using prefabricated 15.75-inch (40-centimetre) thick straw-bale walls. According to the architect, building a green home is about more than just installing solar panels, and K-House proves that. (more…)

Quaint Tiny Home Trailer

We’ve seen a lot of tiny homes over the years, but what really sets this one apart is the seamless blending of the old and the new. The French company La Tiny House designed their creation based on the classic Airstream trailer, which is why they name it the Tiny Stream house. It’s not an exact copy of the Airstream, but the general shape of it is quite unique and definitely sets it apart from the rest of the offerings on the market. (more…)

Gorgeous Furniture Made From Fallen Tree Branches

There are a lot of ways to get “back to nature” some of which are readily apparent, while others are more unique. The beautiful furniture pieces made by Sebastian Errazuriz, a NYC-based designer from Chile, certainly fall into the latter category. He uses fallen tree branches to make bookshelves, tables, and more, while the idea behind his work is to recycle the wood in its natural shape, rather than processing it into some new and unrecognizable form. Students Build Cozy Vacation Cabins

Not long ago, a team of architecture students from the Colorado Building Workshop built 14 cozy small cabins in Leadville, Colorado. The cabins were prefabricated, and will serve as dormitories of the Colorado Outward Bound School. The cabins are called Colorado Outward Bound Micro Cabins and were built on a rather steep hill in the Lodgepole Pine forest. (more…)
