We’ve seen quite a few ingenious tiny houses, but this Fire Tower home is certainly one of the coolest. About two years ago, Dabney Tompkins and Alan Colley decided to quit their jobs and make a fire lookout station into their full time home. Their home really is a “treehouse without a tree” as they like to call it.

Unique Recycled Stools

Recycling is a must and finding new, and creative ways to do it is always welcome. One example of this is the Stool ZERO concept developed by the KaCaMa Design Lab of Hong Kong. It is a great example of how repurposing hard to recycle trash can lead to a beautiful piece of furniture, which anyone can put together.

Camping on the Water

Wouldn’t it be great, if you could pitch a tent on a lake or river, and let it rock you to sleep? I know I’d love that, so I think this floating pod designed by Daniel Durnin, an artist and designer from London, is simply awesome. He is calling it the WaterBed and it is light enough to be towed on the back of a bicycle.

Sustainable and Affordable Family Home

Tatiana Bilbao, an architect from Mexico has come up with an interesting design for a low cost house, which she revealed at the 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial. The home she presented can be built for just $8000 and is therefore very suitable as a social housing alternative, and Bilbao is hopeful it will one day be used as such in her home country. (more…)
