PTI: A Few Blogging Goals for 2008

Fireworks

Pardon the interruption, but as is the tradition in the blogosphere, I’m going to kick out some blogging New Year’s resolutions.  Last year I had several resolutions and thanks to the readers, we shattered all visitor goals.  I didn’t do so well on the commenting and didn’t get any articles in print, but I’m still focusing on the print article goal.

Also, as an FYI to newer readers, Jetson Green isn’t about money or advertising, etc., it’s about participating in one of the coolest movements of my life.  During the tech boom of the late 90s, I was in Japan, completely unconnected to tech life.  Now, I’ve got all sorts of education and there’s nothing to stop me from influencing the country we live in.  As a career youngster, this is one of the ways I’m doing that.  The goals below push me to continue providing the most unique, up-to-date, and relevant news possible.  So, without further ado, here are my goals for Jetson Green in 2008:

[Video] Dwell Design Leaders Video + More

It’s Friday and as I like to say, why not watch a little video?  If you’ve been to Dwell lately, you’ll know they just unveiled their new, completely overhauled website.  It’s super nice now, with easy access to images and information from their archives.  There’s also a new video page with content of some very interesting leaders in design.  Hence, the name for their new video series, Dwell Design Leaders.  I’ve embedded the video of Michelle Kaufmann above talking about prefab and the mkLotus.  The next video below is of David Baker.  I found his comments extremely interesting.  The last video below is Christopher Deam talking about his modern interpretation and design of the Airstream and his collaboration with Design Within Reach.  Very compelling, really inspiring.

William McDonough Launches Blog, C2C Community

C2c William McDonough and Michael Braumgart, founders of MBDC and authors of the popular Cradle to Cradle book, just announced the launch of their new blog, the Cradle to Cradle Community Blog.  The blog looks to be authored authentically by the experts themselves, so we won’t have to chase after old Bioneers videos on Youtube just to get some wit and wisdom from McDonough himself.  I can’t wait to read this, although it would be nice to have an RSS reminder every now and then.  Simultaneously, they’ve announced the creation of the Cradle to Cradle Community Forum.  The forum has subcategories for discussions on Cradle to Cradle Design, Innovative Materials, Closing Loops, and Cradle to Cradle Certification.  There’s free and subscription levels within the forum and it looks like premium members get to participate in live chats.  Fair enough.

Growing at Jetson Green

Just a quick update on the happenings at Jetson Green.  First, you may have noticed that the URL is shorter and easier.  I’m using www.jetsongreen.com now, so feel free to update your links (although the old ones will still work).  Second, this website is growing like crazy.  I love hearing about new projects from architects and developers.  I appreciate all the tips!!  With over 1,100 feedreaders and roughly 30,000 unique visitors per month, I’m constantly trying to think of ways to offer more and better content.  To that end, I’m looking for the perspective of additional writers:

  • Paid Green Business/Real Estate Writer – I’m looking for someone that can write about 1x per week about how businesses are greening their real estate.  This writer would be capable of writing about companies like we’ve done in the past with Coca Cola, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc.  Maybe you’re a green commercial developer or a LEED AP business consultant.  I want you to write with us.
  • Paid Green Interior Design Writer – I’m looking for someone that can write about 1x per week on the subtle details inside home and work spaces.  The perfect writer has an eye for modern, contemporary, cutting edge style and can write about paints, flooring options, countertops, tiles, etc.  This writer would be capable of writing about materials like VitraStone or Trend Q.  Maybe you’re a contractor, remodeler, or interior designer.  I want you to write with us.
  • Guest Writers  – I’m also looking for some unpaid guest writers that like the material on Jetson Green and want to contribute their own similar ideas.  Maybe you only want to write one or two articles, or maybe you want to write more.  We can talk about it.

I look forward to hearing from anyone that may be interested.  Email me at jetsongreen at yahoo.com.  Just for disclosure, paid writers are independent contractors, paid monthly, on a per post basis.
