Father and Son Build Their Own Tiny Home

Architects William Yudchitz of Revelations Architects/Builders and his son Daniel recently completed an awesome off-the-grid tiny house, which they plan to use as a family getaway. It is located on the scenic shores of Lake Superior in Wisconsin and should offer a relaxing getaway. The cabin is called NEST, and is located only 130 feet away their previous tiny home project E.D.G.E (Experimental Dwelling for a Greener Environment), which they use as a winter family home. They plan to use NEST as a summer house. (more…)

Luxury Home With a Small Footprint

Australia-based Austin Maynard Architects have recently completed a luxury home in Melbourne called That House. It’s ultra modern and very sustainable, with a footprint of about half that of the surrounding houses. The home is also powered by solar energy, and features a rainwater collection system. (more…)

Net Zero Prefab That Can be Built in Just Three Days

Unity Homes has recently unveiled a prefab home, which is sustainable yet still made to last for at least as long as traditionally constructed homes. The home has a number of certifications, including LEED v4 Platinum, while it is also net-zero energy and can be constructed on site in three days or less. It is also fitted with the largest number of Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certified building products used in a residential project to date. (more…)

Home Made From Recycled Materials

Tiny homes are sustainable to begin with, but when they are also made mostly using recycled materials they are pretty much perfect when it comes to eco-living. The home pictured above is exactly that. It was built in New Zealand by American expats Patrick and Cori and about 80% of the materials they used were recycled. (more…)
