Early Renders of a LEED Gold Residential Complex Unveiled

Studio Gang Architects of Chicago recently released a series of early pictures of a new LEED Gold project that they are designing. The residential building will be built in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Miami, FL by 2016 and it will feature a number of sustainable and eco-friendly technologies, which the architects plan to meet the standards of a LEED Gold certification. The design itself is also pretty futuristic in its own right.

Cities of the future will almost certainly need to be both larger and much more sustainable than they currently are. Due to this assumption, the logical solution is huge mega-skyscrapers, which are capable of producing their own power and handling their own waste. One such design was recently put forth by Urban Future Organization in partnership with CR-Design in the form of the Cloud Citizen building complex which is to be built in Shenzhen, China. Their idea is actually a whole sprawling complex of interconnected buildings, which includes great spaces and comes with a number of sustainable features.

Making a home water efficient often comes down to they type of showerheads that are installed. To combat water waste when showering, a California-based company has come up with an innovative showerhead called Eva. This is a Bluetooth-connected showerhead, which works with any sized shower attachment, and the makers say it has the capability of cutting a home’s water consumption in half.

But the home, located on the southern banks of the Murray River in Tintaldra, Australia, is actually a highly sustainable modular home that uses no shipping containers in its construction. Zero Emission Building Capable of Producing Almost Three Times the Energy it Uses

The recently completed Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB) Pilot House, designed by the architecture firm Snøhetta in partnership with Norway’s Research Center on Zero Emission Buildings, is a family home that is capable of producing nearly three times as much energy as is required to power it. The additional energy can be fed back into the grid, or used to charge an electric car.
