The (Green) Tiny House Movement

The tiny house movement experienced a surge of sorts when a recent video hit front page Yahoo! But the movement has been growing in popularity over time, especially during the rough and tumble of the last few years.  Tiny houses often include green elements or can be seen as inherently green because they’re small and require tiny amounts of water and energy.  PBS picked up on the topic and published this video embedded above.

32 Containers Later: Providence Awaits a Vibrant New Office Space [Video]

Recently we featured a container clinic under construction by Stack Design Build, and now, the same firm is building a unique container office space on an infill lot in Providence, Rhode Island.  Jay Cox-Chapman of Stack DB was kind enough to send us this time-lapse video taken over five days showing the assembly of 32 recycled containers into an office space.

An Incredible Expandable Green Prefab

This video of Blu Homes recently hit the Innovation Economy column of The Boston Globe.  In This New House, columnist Scott Kirsner gives us a look at the folding prefab technology that Blu Homes uses for homes built in their Littleton, Massachusetts factory.  The folding style of construction presents an interesting new wrinkle to prefab, and Blu is able to save transportation costs by shipping more house and less air.
