A Roof Tile That Eliminates NOx Smog

This summer, KB Home unveiled a prototype home in Lancaster, California, outfitted with solar panels, energy storage, LED lighting, and an electric vehicle outlet, among other technologies.  The prototype also included a roof tile called Auranox by MonierLifetile.  The claim to fame with this roof tile is that it's a smog-eater — that it neutralizes nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the air.

Ecotrax Recycled Content Floor Tiles

Swisstrax, a company out of California, makes an interlocking recycled content floor tile called Ecotrax.  Made with PolyDyne Engineered Rubber Powder, or recycled rubber tires, Ecotrax — according to the company — is durable, strong, and 100% recycled.  Also, to close the loop, Swisstrax takes its products back to be recycled into future products.  It's available in gray colors, various patterns, and two sizes, 13” x 13” x ½” and 15.75” x 15.75” x ¾”.

Express: New Recycled Ceramic Tile

Fireclay Tile, a manufacturer of recycled content ceramic tiles in California, recently launched a new offering called the Express Series Quickship Tile.  It’s made with more than 62% locally sourced recycled content and, according to the company, contains “more post-consumer and pre-consumer waste than any other tile on the market.

Dune Wall Tiles by urbanproduct

Stephen Lindsay has been working on the launch of these fascinating tiles made of walnut, plaster, and concrete. Dune tiles are eight inches square and protrude about two inches from the wall surface. They’re distributed through urbanproduct (though the company is looking for U.S. distributors) and made with natural pigments and a soya-based finish.
