This is an update to let you know of the status of the much-anticipated liquid-cooling LEDs from San Jose-based Switch Lighting. SWITCH60, a 60-watt equivalent bulb that produces 800 lumens at 12 watts (clear) or 13.5 watts (frosted), is currently available at 350 participating Batteries Plus stores nationwide. The SWITCH40 and SWITCH 75 will also be available later this month from Batteries Plus.
Switch Lighting, maker of innovative liquid-cooling LEDs, recently announced the availability of a 100-watt replacement bulb that will hit commercial channels. The color temperature is 4100 K, which is less warm than a homely incandescent and perfect for areas in need of bright white light. Plus, this bulb uses about 80% less energy than an incandescent, or 20 watts.
Switch Lighting, creator of the only LED that uses liquid cooling technology, is on the cusp of a breakout year in 2012. The Switch bulb creates the same warm color of an incandescent, yet it’s made with reclaimable or recyclable materials using the Cradle to Cradle methodology. Inside the bulb is a liquid thermal cooling solution that helps cool the LEDs from all sides, producing more light from less LEDs. In fact, a Switch bulb lasts about 25 times longer and uses 80% less energy than an incandescent.
A new company, Switch Lighting, just introduced some new lights that look promising. The San Jose-based company has what it calls “the brightest warm light LED replacement available,” according to a news release, and we’ve been able to get access to a couple photos of the 75W bulb. The Cradle to Cradle bulbs — 40W, 60W, and 75W equivalents — have a self-cooling design that maximizes brightness and requires fewer LEDs.
