Tatiana Bilbao, an architect from Mexico has come up with an interesting design for a low cost house, which she revealed at the 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial. The home she presented can be built for just $8000 and is therefore very suitable as a social housing alternative, and Bilbao is hopeful it will one day be used as such in her home country. (more…)

Sustainable Home/Office Solution by Dwell

More and more people are working from home these days, but most homes are not really designed to be part office space. Dwell Developments is seeking to rectify this via their new development in Seattle, the so-called Live/Work. These are a home-office hybrid and were designed to make working from home more comfortable and better for the environment.

Sustainable Wooden Home

Living small isn’t for everyone, but this wooden house is a prime example of just how an open plan design and plenty of large windows can make a home appear more spacious than it is. This home was designed by Check firm ASGK Design and is located in the eastern part of Bohemia, in the Czech Republic.

Home Built out of Repurposed Concrete Blocks

As you’re probably well aware, concrete has a huge carbon footprint and what’s worse, a lot of it gets discarded each year. Given these facts, it’s nice to come across the new project by Australian firm Archier, which recently built a family home using recycled concrete blocks.
