The project is The 1310 Condominiums, which is located in Portland, Oregon and one of the houses on the 11xDesign modern homes tour this Saturday.  If you're not familiar with the project, you may think it's new construction, but 1310 is actually a conversion of an old apartment complex into five modern condominiums. Designed by Brett Crawford Architecture + Planning for Brett Crawford and Dana Ing Crawford, with Brett Crawford as contractor, the finished project shows that meticulous attention was given to the small details.  And all that is paying off for the owners.  Three units are sold (with only two remaining one-bedroom units left), and 1310 received both a Built Honor and Sustainability Award from AIA Portland.

Taliesin Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture graduate and undergraduate students have been blogging on PrairieMod about their project to build a small modern home on the grounds of Taliesin West.  Now, the Mod.Fab is complete, and it’s a compelling demonstration of passive and active environmental control systems, water catchment, top-tier insulation, a gray water system, native landscaping, and a solar power system.

This B-Line Small was designed by Hive Modular and completed within the last year.  Hive has a variety of home models in various sizes, and they can be designed with a flat or pitched roof.  As you can see here, this home features a pitched roof, which provides some passive benefits; the home maximizes southern exposure, sits lightly with a small, 1410 square-foot plan, and takes advantage of an urban infill lot.  In addition, the modern modular home has some other common green elements:

We've mentioned this project previously, but Concourse E's home at 81 Weatherby is now complete.  It's stunning and comes with most of what we've all come to anticipate in a modern, green pad.  Just look at these images.  81 Weatherby is the first private residence in Atlanta to incorporate a green living roof, and for the current going price of ~$574,500, it could be yours.  The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom abode is super contemporary both in terms of looks and sustainability.  Check out some of its green features:

Pardon the amateur photography in this article, but hopefully you can see how beautiful this newly built home is — it could become the first LEED certified home in Utah!  The Maryfield Home was designed by John Sparano and Anne Mooney of Sparano + Mooney Architecture, also the owners, and they're eagerly working towards certification.  I first found out about it from Benchmark Modern, a local contractor specializing in modern green construction, and they were able to arrange a tour.  Check it out:
