The new NASA Sustainability Base was designed by William McDonough + Partners to embody the spirit of NASA while fostering collaboration, supporting health and well-being, and exceed the requirements of LEED® Platinum with systems that will eventually use only renewable energy and closed-loop water maintenance facilities.
Of of Canada’s first buildings to be certified under the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge and designed to exceed LEED Platinum status for a significant model of sustainability, the 1,765 square meter VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, was designed by Perkins+Will in partnership with Sharp & Diamond Landscape Architecture and Cornelia Hahn Oberlander.
Last month, Seattle homebuilder, Greenfab, showcased two of its green, prefab modular, home designs at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas. Almost 7,000 people visited the two homes that were set up outside of the main entrance.
It took only five hours to complete the initial installation of the 2100 and 2300 Series homes, which arrived in five modules apiece, for a total of 4,400 square feet, and were completely finished in just six days.
Since 1933, the Tennessee Valley Authority community of Norris, Tennessee has showcased a variety of prefabricated houses with modern amenities such as electricity, heat, and indoor plumbing that were quite rare in Appalachia. Read more »
If you’re planning on the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, expect to see not one but two modular homes built by Greenfab, the builder behind this modular, LEED Platinum home. The first home is a modified version of Greenfab’s 2100 Series home with 2,100 square feet, up to four bedrooms, and a master suite that opens to a large roof deck.
