It’s been a few years since I last mentioned IdeaPaint. The company now has black and clear versions of the popular product to go with the white. Now the dry-erase surface can be any number of colors with CREATE – Clear. IdeaPaint sells a kit that’ll cover 50 square feet for the price of $225, which includes the paint, a roller, and several other odds and ends. The product works best on sealed, non-porous surfaces and is a low-VOC product that meets GREENGUARD Children & School requirements.
This year Sherwin Williams introduced ColorCast EcoToner, which is a new tinting system that won’t add VOCs to paints. The new colorants “maintain the paint’s full body after tinting, delivering thick, rich coats for maximum performance,” according to a company press release. The ColorCast EcoToner system is available for any hue in the Sherwin Williams color palette (as well as custom color matches, too). ColorCast EcoToner colorants are now used for Emerald paints and all other Sherwin Williams latex and water-based coatings as of July 1, 2012. Perhaps you’ve already used paints with this system — thoughts?
Hello, my name is Lisa. I am (gulp) a modernist who loves color. There I said it, the truth is out! I enjoy the nuances of greens, blues, yellows and my all-time favorite aquamarine. And not just on a throw pillow, mind you. I long to see it up on my walls and even (dare I say it!) on the exterior of my house. Unfortunately for a color-lover like me, I live with a typical modernist devoted to white and grey. But a girl can dream, as I’ve been doing since discovering Unearthed Paints, a gorgeously-hued new line of natural paints and wall coatings.
