Method Announces Prefab Cottage Series

If your design palette is traditional, you’ll probably like the new Cottage Series by Studio 29 and Method Homes. The Cottage Series marries craftsman style with off-site fabrication in six floor plans.  These have tiered pricing based on things like the materials, interior palette, and finish packages.  For a general idea, pricing is between about $215,400 – $498,300 (not including separate, optional garage and ADU structures from $23,000).

Platinum Beachaus II Prefab in White Rock

Following the sale of Beachaus I, a contemporary prefab in the White Rock area of British Columbia, the neighboring Beachaus II now hits the market with a price tag of $1,275,000. The LEED Platinum home — three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, 2,025 square feet — was designed by Pb Elemental, fabricated by Method Homes, and developed by InHaus Development.

Update: Sunset Idea House by Blu Homes

As you know, Sunset Magazine selected the Breezehouse by Blu Homes for the 2012 Idea House (last year it was a solar-powered container house).  After we posted an initial article about the completed home, Blu sent us some more photos and a time-lapse video of the on-site build process. Watch the modules drop in place and walls fold down in button-up work. If you want to see the home in person, the modern prefab is open for tours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm through September 9, 2012.

Sunset Idea House Prefab in Healdsburg

The Sunset Magazine Idea House that I mentioned a few months ago will open for public tours on August 3, 2012.  Located in Healdsburg, California, the $2.65 million green prefab has 3,000 square feet and a 480-square-foot guest house with a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms, according to Healdsburg Patch.  The Idea House was fabricated by Blu Homes, developed by Rosemary Wardell, and designed on the inside by Sharon Portnoy.  Drop by and tell us what you think if you get the opportunity to visit the Idea House.

Snoozebox is a Portable Container Hotel

Snoozebox is poised to take advantage of an alignment of circumstances with the Olympics in London.  The company provides temporary lodging in the form of portable, stackable, scalable hotel rooms made with shipping containers.  Snoozebox is currently providing about 320 rooms for security personnel at Hainault Forest Country Park from July 14 – August 15, 2012, according to The Financial Times.  The portable hotel can be ready within 48 hours of arriving at almost any event or location in the world, and rooms have internet, TV, a personal safe, attached bathrooms, etc.
