Another Promising Pop-Up Apartment Solution

The recently introduced Cubitat is another instant apartment solution. It was designed by the Canadian architectural firm Urban Capital and Italian designer Luca Nichetto. The Cubitat cube measures 10 x 10 x 10 feet (3 x 3 x 3 m) and features a kitchen, bedroom, lounging and entertainment area, bathroom, laundry and storage space.

A House That’s Sustainable From the Inside Out

The Passive House Che has recently been built in a forest in Romania and is currently still being evaluated to receive the Passive House standard certification. As such, it is of course equipped with all sorts of sustainable features, which also include an indoor lawn. It was designed by the local firm Tecto Architectura.

Pre-Fab Home for the Young and Single

The construction firm Heijmans of Holland has just unveiled a prototype for a prefabricated home, which they plan to erect in city areas and rent out to single young people looking for their first home. This first version of the home is called Heijmans ONE and should be launched soon.

Eco-Tourism Meets Sustainable Architecture

Earlier this year a team of students from the University of Technology in Trondheim designed a very sustainable hut as part of a design- and building workshop. They were assisted by Rintala Eggertsson Architects and several others. The international seminar that the workshop was part of was focused on the future of eco-tourism in the Western Ghats region in India. And the main purpose of it was to find sustainable solutions, which would benefit both the local population as well as help preserve the environment in the region.
