Three New Green Design Magazines

Colored-booklets

You don't have to read Nieman Journalism Lab to know the publishing world is in shambles.  Particularly in the shelter magazine category, where available titles shrink from one month to the next, there hasn't been much going on.  But in the past few months, I've noticed some new activity — perhaps this is an inflection point.  In any event, if you're looking for fresh green design inspiration, here are three new titles to keep in mind.

Good Green Shelter Inspiration

March-Dwell April-MetHome

If you're the kind of reader that still likes the tactile feel of a good book or magazine, you might as well go give a couple magazines a quick look.  The March 2009 issue of Dwell focuses on the theme "Smarter, Greener, More Daring," while the April 2009 issue of Metropolitan Home looks at Green Renovations and the Greenest Little House in America.  There's plenty of high-quality reading material packed into both … well worth the combined cost of $10.98, if you buy them together.

The Ultimate Prefab Magazine 2009

Architectural Record's Unbuilt Houses 2008

Unbuilt Houses 2008

Eight houses were chosen for Architectural Record’s special, web-exclusive list of Unbuilt Houses.  They’re all green.  If you take a look, you might notice something familiar.  You’ve probably seen many of them before.  Five of the eight homes have been featured on Jetson Green previously (links below).  I guess that means we’re doing something right (and fast), too.  My favorite would have to be Adjaye Associates’ design for the Make It Right Project in New Orleans.
