Sylvania Intros 100w Equivalent LED Bulb

This week Massachusetts-based Osram Sylvania announced a 100-watt replacement LED light bulb that uses only 20 watts of energy. In fact, the company claims it’s the first to market with such a replacement offering. Sylvania Ultra LED is an A21 bulb (larger than the A19 shape) with a rated life of up to 25,000 hours, a color temperature of 2700 Kelvin, and a CRI of 80. The LED bulb outputs 1600 lumens, according to LEDs Magazine, and is expected to sell for about $50 at Lowe’s.

Denim Insulation Now Available at Lowe’s

There’s been a lot of talk about cotton insulation, but I’ve seen it used in countless projects.  It’s probably worth noting that Bonded Logic’s recycled-content product hit the mainstream with a roll-out of UltraTouch Denim Insulation to 165 Lowe’s stores this month.  The product is made with 80% post-consumer recycled natural fibers and doesn’t have added formaldehyde, VOCs, or chemical irritants, according to Bonded Logic.

New ESL Light Bulbs to Hit Lowe’s Soon

Turns out the new Electron Stimulated Luminescence (ESL) R30 light bulb by Vu1 Corporation, which we first mentioned in January 2011, will be available at Lowes.com in December 2011 and in Lowe’s stores nationwide in February 2012, according to a company statement.  The flood light is expected to retail for $14.98.
