Architect Stéphane Malka of Paris, France, has come up with a unique and quite ambitious idea of creating new housing in his city. The system he proposes calls for prefabricated units to be added onto the existing building. This system is called “3box” and apart from creating additional livable space in this metropolis, it would also be more economical since there would be no land costs associated with it. (more…)

Old Barn Turned Into a Modern Home

Here is another example of a great conversion project, which breathes new life into a structure built a long time ago. The project was dubbed Ancient Party Barn and the conversion was carried out by the firm Liddicoat & Goldhill. The home is located near Folkestone, Kent, which is one of the most scenic areas of England. The architects did a great job of mixing the old with the new with this conversion, creating a gorgeous modern home, which pays homage to its historical roots yet is firmly planted in the new millennium. Luxury Home With a Small Footprint

Australia-based Austin Maynard Architects have recently completed a luxury home in Melbourne called That House. It’s ultra modern and very sustainable, with a footprint of about half that of the surrounding houses. The home is also powered by solar energy, and features a rainwater collection system. (more…)

Modern Home That Features a Green Roof

This home was recently completed by the firm TheVeryMany, which is led by architect Marc Fornes, in Strasbourg, France.
