Oregon-based Ideabox, the company behind Aktiv with IKEA Portland, recently shared news of an expanded endeavor called Minibox. Minibox is actually a series of “minihomes” built to RV and park model codes. The tiny-house series has designs ranging from a 200 square-foot studio to a 320 square-foot one-bedroom/one-bath cottage. And you can bet Ideabox will continue to plug all the green stuff inside. Pricing for the non-wheel version starts at $42,500.
It’s been a few years since I last mentioned IdeaPaint. The company now has black and clear versions of the popular product to go with the white. Now the dry-erase surface can be any number of colors with CREATE – Clear. IdeaPaint sells a kit that’ll cover 50 square feet for the price of $225, which includes the paint, a roller, and several other odds and ends. The product works best on sealed, non-porous surfaces and is a low-VOC product that meets GREENGUARD Children & School requirements.
You may recall the Aktiv prefab by Ideabox that we mentioned a few months ago. The media picked up a thread on this modular home thinking it was an IKEA prefab but the reality is the home was built by Ideabox with a ton of IKEA products on the inside. Ideabox is running what it’s calling “Ideabox Summer in the City” with an Aktiv on display at Cascade Station in Portland (down the road from IKEA Portland). It’ll be on display through the first week in August with solar from Sunmodo and Solar World, a ductless heat pump from Fujitsu and The Heat Pump Store, and furnishings from IKEA. Aktiv is priced from $87,000 with one bedroom, one bathroom, and 745 square feet.
As mentioned a couple weeks ago, Oregon-based Ideabox created a new prefab in collaboration with IKEA Portland for the Portland Home & Garden Show going on right now, February 22-26, 2012. In case you’re not in the area, here are some photos of the fresh new home. Ideabox Aktiv features tons of IKEA products and showcases a cost-effective home that can be built with open spaces, vaulted ceilings, and clean lines.
Update 2/23/2012 – Ideabox AKTIV with IKEA Hits Portland
In addition to the Minibox, Oregon-based Ideabox is readying a new prefab in collaboration with IKEA Portland for the Portland Home & Garden Show slotted for February 22-26, 2012. Called “Aktiv,” the home is a new design centered around IKEA products, such as their kitchens, lights, furniture, and other materials. The intent is a cost effective home with great open spaces, soaring vaulted ceilings, and clean modern lines.
Oregon-based Ideabox has been on the prefab scene doing their thing in the Pacific Northwest for a long time now. I’ve mentioned several of their homes and look forward to sharing a few newsworthy articles here in the next couple months. As a preview, I thought I’d share a new design of the company — the Minibox. It’s a 200 square-foot tiny house with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom/living area. It’ll have IKEA cabinets and fixtures, energy-efficient appliances, and Energy Star windows. More soon …
