They are calling it the Ecocapsule, and, once completed, it will operate off-the-grid, boasting a lot of sustainable and green technologies. The company hopes to start selling these eco-friendly pods by the end of this year.

Urban Algae Canopy Looks Promising


The London-based studio ecoLogicStudio has recently showcased a prototype of its so-called urban algae canopy at the “Feeding the Planet” expo in Milan. The urban algae canopy is a bio-digital structure filled with fluid that contains microalgae organisms. These are pumped around the otherwise transparent structure and are capable of producing oxygen, biomass energy and dynamic shade. They also respond to the presence of visitors and can produce very interesting visual effects.

Covert House is Sustainable and Gorgeous


The London-based architecture firm DSDHA recently completed the build of a very unique house. Covert House, as it is called, is a modern family home, which due to the desire to reduce its visual impact, is sunken halfway into the ground. The visible part of the home is covered with mirrors and glass to make it blend into its surroundings even better. The home also boasts a number of sustainable features and was recently shortlisted for a RIBA housing award.

Innovative Solar Energy System


An Austrian company Smartflower recently unveiled a unique and innovative solar energy system, which does away with traditional roof-top mounted solar panels. The so-called Smartflower POP system is a 3.2 kW solar power array that is ground-mounted. It gets its name from the folding panels, which close up at night and in strong wind conditions, and automatically unfold again in the morning. The units are available in 8 different colors.

Gorgeous Treehouse is Recycled and Powered by the Sun


There is something so whimsical about treehouses and I for one would love to have one. Especially one as beautiful and sustainable as the Nest treehouse. It was recently build by the company ArtisTree for Cypress Valley Canopy Tours out of Texas, and it features the perfect blend of unique design, recycled and reclaimed materials and alternative energy. It also offers wildlife conservation since it will double as a butterfly sanctuary.
