Naturally Cooled Concrete House

The Vietnamese firm Vo Trong Nghia Architects recently completed the so-called Binh House in Ho Chi Minh City. While it is made of concrete, which is not the most sustainable material, they have found a way to cool it naturally. It also has many plants softening up its façade, which makes it a welcome island of greenery within the city. The firm is planning to build other such houses as part of their House for Trees series.

Residential Tower Will Encourage Residents to Grow Their Own Greens

The firm Studio Lokal from Denmark has unveiled plans to build a very interesting tower in Copenhagen. It will be located on the site of a former produce market, and for this reason the architects incorporated spacious balconies into the design, where each of the residents will be able to grown their own fruits and veggies.

Modern Home That Features a Green Roof

This home was recently completed by the firm TheVeryMany, which is led by architect Marc Fornes, in Strasbourg, France. Mall With Largest Green Roof in the World

Silicon Valley, CA just might be getting a mall with the largest green roof in the world. The developer firm Sand Hill Property Company has recently acquired a 50 acre (20 hectare) plot of land, currently occupied by Cupertino’s Vallco Shopping Mall. (more…)

A House That’s Sustainable From the Inside Out

The Passive House Che has recently been built in a forest in Romania and is currently still being evaluated to receive the Passive House standard certification. As such, it is of course equipped with all sorts of sustainable features, which also include an indoor lawn. It was designed by the local firm Tecto Architectura.

Hemp Makes This Winery Green

It is always nice to hear businesses creating their products in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, and the French winery Château Maris is a great example of it. Château Maris is an organic and biodynamic winery, since their cellar was constructed using bricks made of organic hemp and lime. They also installed a green roof and solar panels, meaning that Château Maris is now a net-zero energy building.
