Solar-powered Teardrop Trailer


Trailers are fun to take a holiday in, and the teardrop shaped ones are cool from the inside out. This trailer, designed by the startup Homegrown Trailers of Woodinville, WA is made of wood, which gives it an extra bit of charm. University Center Adopts Efficient New Lighting Design


With very little doubt left that it’s our wasteful practices that are the cause of global warming, it’s nice to see some larger scales steps being taken in the right direction. A great example of such a step is the intelligent lighting system installed at the Watt Family Innovation Center at Clemson University in South Carolina. The system uses Philips’ LED and Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology and should provide energy savings of around 70 percent as compared to using conventional lighting. (more…)

Couple Build a Tiny Home for Only $300


Some time ago, Alyssa Craft and Jesse Stafford bought a piece of land in the Pacific Northwest, with the hopes of securing a mortgage-free future for themselves, and escape the hectic toil of modern city life. They’ve been living in a trailer, while they build a homestead on the property, but in an effort to live more comfortably, they also built a small cabin, which only cost $300 to construct. (more…)

Replacing a Wall With Shutters


It’s always great to see dwellings where the separation between the indoor and outdoor space is so minimal it hardly exists. One great example of that is this cottage in Utrecht, which features shutters along one entire wall. When these shutters are opened, light floods the interior of this cottage, and what’s more, they built it atop an existing foundation of another structure that once stood here. (more…)

A 3D Printed Office Completed in Dubai


It’s been kind of quiet in the sphere of 3D printing of buildings lately, but the new project recently completed in Dubai definitely shows promise for the concept. The structure is called the Office of the Future and the project was started back in 2015. And now, the world’s first 3D printed office is completed and ready for use. (more…)
