Filmmaker Converts Van into a Modern Home and Studio on Wheels

Working as a freelancer from home brings with it a great deal of freedom, but some crave even more of it. Such is seemingly the case for American filmmaker Zach Both, who converted a decade-old Chevy cargo van into a tiny home, which he also uses as a mobile filmmaking studio. Zach used to work as an art director at a tech startup, but left to focus on filmmaking full-time. He chose to do so in a mobile home, because for him, the filmmaking process goes hand in hand with a nomadic lifestyle. (more…)

Solar-powered Teardrop Trailer

Trailers are fun to take a holiday in, and the teardrop shaped ones are cool from the inside out. This trailer, designed by the startup Homegrown Trailers of Woodinville, WA is made of wood, which gives it an extra bit of charm. It’s also large enough to be considered a tiny house and can function completely off-the-grid, while it is also built using renewable materials. (more…)

Sustainable Home Made of Straw Bale

Architect Nicolas Koff recently designed and built a modern and very sustainable home near Hamilton, Ontario. K-House, as the home is called is eco-friendly from the ground up and built using prefabricated 15.75-inch (40-centimetre) thick straw-bale walls. According to the architect, building a green home is about more than just installing solar panels, and K-House proves that. (more…)

Quaint Tiny Home Trailer

We’ve seen a lot of tiny homes over the years, but what really sets this one apart is the seamless blending of the old and the new. The French company La Tiny House designed their creation based on the classic Airstream trailer, which is why they name it the Tiny Stream house. It’s not an exact copy of the Airstream, but the general shape of it is quite unique and definitely sets it apart from the rest of the offerings on the market. (more…)

Gorgeous Furniture Made From Fallen Tree Branches

There are a lot of ways to get “back to nature” some of which are readily apparent, while others are more unique. The beautiful furniture pieces made by Sebastian Errazuriz, a NYC-based designer from Chile, certainly fall into the latter category. He uses fallen tree branches to make bookshelves, tables, and more, while the idea behind his work is to recycle the wood in its natural shape, rather than processing it into some new and unrecognizable form. Tiny Home Made From Hemp

Hemp is a very versatile material, great for making a whole bunch of useful products. The firm Green Built of Albany, NY have now decided to use hemp to build a tiny home, mainly to raise awareness of the benefits of this building material in the US where it is still rather unknown.
