It’s getting harder and harder to find adequate and affordable living spaces in big cities across the world, so it’s really nice to see all the ingenious solutions people are coming up with to solve these problems. The latest such solution comes from French architect Jérôme Vinçon who turned a tiny apartment with a 17-foot ceiling into a four-story micro home for a young couple. (more…)

Trailer Based Tiny Home

A British Columbia-based homebuilder Nelson Tiny Houses recently completed this unique 380-square-foot house. They used a fifth-wheel utility trailer as the base for it and created a comfortable and spacious dwelling. The home is called V House and it features a comfortable sitting area, kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. There is also a wide wooden deck that successfully extends the living area into the outdoors. (more…)

Modular Home Made of Cardboard

Nido House is yet another pretty tiny home made from cardboard, a building material that seems to be catching on lately. This home can function off-the-grid, since it’s equipped with a solar power system and a rainwater recovery system, among other things, and it is available in various sizes and designs. It was created by Italian architect Francesca Fadalti and her business partner Michela Romano. (more…)

Shipping Container Recycled Into a Cozy Home

It’s been awhile since we featured a shipping container home on this site, but this recently completed project by the tiny home company Walker Wilderness Enterprises from Brighton, Colorado deserves a mention. It is called Container Tiny House and can even be taken off-the-grid. It makes for a great vacation home, though it could also easily be used as a full time residence. (more…)

Filmmaker Converts Van into a Modern Home and Studio on Wheels

Working as a freelancer from home brings with it a great deal of freedom, but some crave even more of it. Such is seemingly the case for American filmmaker Zach Both, who converted a decade-old Chevy cargo van into a tiny home, which he also uses as a mobile filmmaking studio. Zach used to work as an art director at a tech startup, but left to focus on filmmaking full-time. He chose to do so in a mobile home, because for him, the filmmaking process goes hand in hand with a nomadic lifestyle. (more…)
