Natural Home Completes Show House

It's been through several years of remodeling, but the Natural Home Show House is now complete.  The word show house, though, is kind of a misnomer because the project includes two connected homes.  One is on Nevins Street and the other is on Pacific Street in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.  They both have distinct styles and both anticipate receiving Health House and LEED certifications.

The OC Gets a Luxury Platinum Home

Developer Steve Blanchard set out to build one of the greenest homes in Orange County, and he may just have accomplished that.  In fact, this home, the Costa Mesa Green Home, is the first custom residence in the OC to receive LEED Platinum certification.  Although 5,000 square feet in size, the home exceeds California Energy Code by 40% and isn’t expected to generate an electricity bill outside of standard add-on fees.

If It Doesn’t Perform, It’s Not Green!

In a forthcoming keynote address to the Green Cities conference of the Green Building Council of Australia, green building guru Jerry Yudelson intends to tackle a important concern in the sustainable building world: performance.  His keynote, entitled “If it doesn’t perform, it’s not green,” is at the center of a hot button topic that seems to be taking on new fervor these days.

First LEED Platinum Home in Indiana

A little over a month ago, this home received the first LEED Platinum certification for a home in the state of Indiana.  Located in Franklin, the 2,000 square-foot contemporary residence has three bedrooms and two bathrooms for a family of three and a dog.  Castalia Homes built the home, which has a number of green features.

Preview of the HGTV Green Home 2010

As in the prior years, HGTV is planning the giveaway of a new green home.  The HGTV Green Home 2010 is located in The Pinehills neighborhood of Plymouth, Massachusetts.  The home is still under construction, so HGTV is in the process of trickling out new details from time to time.  Here’s a little of what we know so far:
