After the setting of 13 factory-built boxes and the completion of construction, these net zero energy homes were opened to three low-income families in Lafayette, Colorado.  Referred to as the Paradigm Pilot Project, the development includes one single family home and a duplex.  The project was designed by HB&A Architects and built by All American Homes of Colorado for the Boulder County Housing Authority.

12 Platinum Net Zero Energy Homes

In North Boulder, there's a new, green neighborhood development called Spring Leaf.  The neighborhood's first home, its model home, has been completed.  In total, Spring Leaf will include six single-family homes and six townhomes that will be all-electric, super efficient, and easily LEED Platinum.  Moreover, they'll all be net-zero energy homes powered by solar and geothermal systems.

Two Passive House Row Homes in Philly

If you're in the area, the next project by Postgreen, the development company behind the award-winning 100k House, will be open for tours on Thursday, December 17.  Dubbed The Passive Project, the tour will include two newly constructed row houses built to a rigorous and trendy German Passiv Haus standard.  When certified, these homes — located at 2318-2320 Amber Street — should be the first to do so in the Philadelphia.

Modern Green 555YVR in Walnut Creek

In the California city of Walnut Creek, this stunning green project is nearing completion with occupancy planned for October 2009.  555YVR gets its name from its location — 555 Ygnacio Valley Road, which is conveniently located within walking distance of BART and a number of downtown restaurants and nightclubs.  Thompson | Dorfman Partners developed 55YVR with the architectural help of Kwan Henmi and KTGY Group, and the project was built to LEED standards.  Some of the green aspects include the following:

100k House Gets All Sorts of Props

A long time ago, we mentioned the 100k House project developed by Post Green in Philadelphia.  The project involves two attached homes designed by Interface Studio Architects, and one was a case study of sorts to try to build it for only $100,000.  What I liked about the project was its attempt to marry three essential elements: style, sustainability, and affordability.  All too often, these three are hard to put together in the same package.  But the media wave followed, and Post Green seems to have delivered what it set out to do.
