The ‘Power Haus’ by Josh Wynne Construction in Sarasota, Florida has achieved the lowest HERS rating on record in the U.S., a negative 22, with an elegant, well-crafted design. Earning 118 LEED points the home is just shy of also becoming the highest scoring LEED home in the country by 1.5 points to the Helenowski Residence in Chicago, which holds the highest known score at 119.5.

The single-family home has 2,438 square feet with a basement, four bedrooms, and three baths. It was built with the owners’ budget of $340,000 and includes beautiful green and luxurious elements.

The Seattle-based firm, founded by a seasoned builder and developer and architects formerly of the firm now known as Olson Kundig Architects, differentiates itself from others with a trademark soaring butterfly roofline, energy-efficient designs, sustainable materials, and a predictable construction budget.
This is North Beach Residence on Orcas Island, the largest of the San Juan Islands in Washington. The 2,070 square-foot project received a national AIA Honor Award this year and is owned by Rysia Sucheca and John Warburton for use as a summer house from May through October. It was designed by Heliotrope Architects and built by David Shore Construction.
Productive Building is a recycled and recyclable building system concept that was recently demonstrated for the construction of Greenhouse, a temporary, and entirely waste free, restaurant on the waterfront in Sydney, Australia. The Productive Building system is an intriguing and fast way of creating a building with steel, straw bales, and simple interior and exterior finishes.
This is House Ocho, a project in Carmel, California, designed by Feldman Architecture. The home is beautiful and modern with striking clean lines, though perhaps its most prominent detail is a lively green roof that hides the structure in the hillside of a nature preserve in the Santa Lucia Mountains.
