Modular Recycled Ditto from 3form

3form, an innovative maker of recycled content materials, recently introduced a new modular product called Ditto.  The product, winner of the Best of Competition Award at the HD Expo 2010, is made with hundreds of cross-shaped pieces that combine to form a partition, wall, or ceiling feature.  Ditto is made with Varia Ecoresin, a 40% pre-consumer recycled content material, and can be customized using an online configurator and several different colors.

A Durable Soft New Carpet Tigressa

Last month, Shaw invited a number of bloggers to Atlanta for the launch of a new carpet product called Tigressá SoftStyle.  While we were invited, we were not able to participate, so the company sent us a sample kit for review.  The kit includes a new patch and one that’s been tested with 20,000 steps, and they’re both just as soft — I can’t tell a difference between the two.  Hence, the tagline: The Softer, Stronger Carpet.

NovuStone Colorful Recycled Surfaces

I first noticed NovuStone at 1105 Dwell, a green development in Seattle. NovuStone is a green surface material made with about 75% recycled content, of which 100% can be post-consumer recycled glass. It’s fabricated in Seattle of locally-sourced materials without steam or pressure curing and available in a variety of sizes and colors.

Micro Recycled Eco-Composite Surface

Meld USA, maker of ecoX, recently launched a new surface material called Micro, which is made with up to 74% pre-consumer recycled content in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The product, which can help contribute toward several LEED credits, is available in slabs of 30" x 96" x 1.5" or in over-sized custom slabs.  Micro can also be custom fabricated into a variety of applications.

In an effort to find truly sustainable and beautiful commercial interior design, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Interiors & Sources magazine partnered to create the Bloom Awards.  Now in its second year, the winners have just been released and will be recognized at NeoCon next month.  These five products, according to a press release, successfully marry innovation and sustainability in their category.
