Tournesol Siteworks makes a modular living wall system that was installed at Pizzeria Mozza on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. GreenScaped Buildings installed the green wall with 100% recycled polypropylene plastic modules, a Uni-Strut frame, and Netafim in-line drip irrigation. The result is a lush and massive wall — now about 120 square feet on the east facing wall — that protrudes roughly 15 inches from the surface. It grows lettuce, peppermint, celery, parsley, sage, and other edible plants.

Staybull Flooring, a Florida company, recently let us know about their recycled flooring available in more than 20 wood species. The company salvages waste wood from lumber mills around the globe; binds discarded strips together with a solvent-free, no-VOC adhesive; and then mills and finishes the planks with a ceramic, no-VOC finish. The result is strong, mosaic-like, rich in detail, and made in the U.S.A. And if you're looking for an FSC certified option, Staybull Flooring can provide that, too.
If you're in the market for an Old World look, Fontenay makes vintage flooring from reclaimed wine barrels. The Cooperage collection has stamps and markings from the barrel head; the Wine Infusion collection comes from the inside of the barrel and is naturally stained by the wine; and the Stave collection is made with the outside of the barrel and shows markings from the hoops. Pricing starts at $32 per square foot.
