Full time traveling, at least for a while, is the dream of many, and artist Kelsey and journalist Corbin of Steps to Wander have made it a reality. They converted an old Ford E-350 El Dorado Encore camper van into a cozy home, which they can easily take on the road. The young couple from Portland, Oregon, are currently living in the van full time as they travel east along the US-Canadian border. […]
Architects Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley have taken the idea of living with nature a whole step further with their newest creation. ReActor, as their project is called, is not just a house, but could also be considered a work of art. The home rests atop a 15 ft (4.5 m)-tall concrete column and can be rotated a full 360 degrees. This rotation is either the result of wind or the occupants moving from one part of the home to another. […]

While a large percentage of plastic we use in everyday lives is recyclable, there are still those items that cannot be recycled. These include various potato chip and other quick snack bags, which are needless to say, quite abundant. However the company 3D Brooklyn, which offers 3D printing services, has come up with a great solution to this problem. They have partnered with Terracycle, and together they created a way to use this unrecyclable packaging as raw materials for their printers. […]
Some people don’t want to make the leap to living tiny full-time, but that doesn’t stop them from enjoying the benefits of living small when it comes to vacation homes. Such is the case behind this unique tiny lodge, which was built for a ski-enthusiast couple. It was created by Maximus Extreme Living Solutions, and it’s designed so that it can be used in all types of climates, even very cold ones.
Apart from the interesting exterior, the so-called Tiny Ski Lodge also has a unique interior layout. It features an upstairs lounge and a hobby room that can be used for sewing and crafting. The lodge was built atop a 30 ft (9.1 m)-long triple axle trailer and measures just 240 sq ft (22.2 sq m) all told. The lodge is clad in pine and corrugated metal. It features lots of windows, including a porthole, which let in plenty of natural light. […]
The Holland-based firm Fiction Factory have recently unveiled a modular home, which is built out of layered cardboard. While the latter is not quite the top choice of building material, the architects claim that the home will last for up to 100 years, which is quite a bold statement. The home is called Wikkelhouse (which translates to “wrapper house”) and due to the modular way of construction, it can be built in virtually any size the owner wants. […]
