The Colorado-based company Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses recently unveiled their newest tiny home creation called Rio Grande. It is a biggish tiny home, though still small enough to be easily towable.

The only thing better than downsizing in a tiny home is doing so on a tiny budget. Scott Brooks spent less then $500 to built his dream tiny home, called Transforming Tiny Home, which was largely made possible by using repurposed and salvaged materials.

Super Affordable Off Grid Tiny Home in Hawaii

This gorgeous tiny home in one of the most beautiful places in the world, namely Hawaii, was built by tiny house builder and dressmaker Kristie Wolfe from Boise, Idaho. A few years ago she built another tiny home, called Tiny House on the Prairie, in which she has been living in since. The money she saved by downsizing has now allowed her to build this second, off-the-grid tiny home, which she plans to use as primarily a vacation home.

Students Turn Storehouse into a Tiny Home

Amy Andrews and Ethan Van Kooten, students at Central College in Iowa, converted an old storehouse into a cozy tiny home. The conversion was actually their senior project, and it cost only $489. This low cost was also made possible by the fact that they used recycled furniture and other repurposed materials wherever they could.

Passively Cooled House Makes Outdoor Living Enjoyable

I am a huge fan of homes that make it easy and appealing to spend some of the day, or night, outdoors. The recently completed MMMMMS House does a great job of this, sporting a skeletal structure that invites relaxing or working outdoors. The home is also passively cooled and features a number of other sustainable features.

Bricks to Aid Passive Cooling

Integrating passive cooling into sustainable housing has been a must for most designers for a while now. And with the creation of the so-called Cool Bricks by the design firm Emerging Objects this feat just got a little simpler. Cool Bricks are 3D printed bricks that can be filled with water to bring the temperature in homes.
