  • Is a Passive House affordable?

    #1
Well, I have a fair idea about a Passive house and how it can be truly energy efficient and comfortable at the same time. However, I do not exactly know whether they are cost-efficient as well. Does a Passive House truly help in saving the overall cost?

Yes. Passive Houses are definitely affordable! On an average, a Passive Home will cost around 7-10% more in initial construction costs in contrast to the conventional homes. Furthermore, one of the biggest cost savings factors in Passive Houses is that these houses do not require conventional heating and cooling systems. Hence these savings can be invested in insulation, superior quality windows and ventilation system. These houses also result in 90% reduction in annual heating or cooling consumption.

Well, it is actually surprising to me, as I thought that it was going beyond the budget. But its good to hear that it is affordable and save the overall cost. One can invest in these kind of houses easily.
