  • Residential Wind Turbines

Can anyone please tell me how does a residential wind turbine work?

A wind turbine,is installed atop a tall tower. It draws kinetic energy from the wind and then converts it to electricity which is compatible with domestic electric power. In residential application, with net metering, a house is served simultaneously by wind turbine and a local utility. If the wind speeds are below cut-in speed (usually a minimum of 2 or 3 metres per second is required) there will be no output from the turbine and all of the required power is purchased from the utility. With the increase of wind speed, the output of the turbine increases and the amount of power purchased from the utility is proportionately decreased. When the turbine produces more power than the house needs, the extra electricity can also be sold to utility (if it's possible).
