Does the Cost of Wind Power Competitive With Conventional Power Plants?Page Title Module
As the U.S. Department of Energy confirms, all new utility-scale wind projects are being developed all across US today whose energy costs range from 3.9 cents per KW-hour (at very windy sites in Texas) to 5 cents or more. These costs are competitive with the direct operating costs of other conventional forms of electricity generation now. It is expected the prices would drop further within next five to ten years from now.
