Element Prefab Installed in Long Island

Blu Homes recently installed and completed this factory-built home for two professors in Long Island.  It’s based on the Element line, which is basically the same model used to build this Rhode Island retreat that we mentioned previously.  Maura McCarthy, co-founder of Blu Homes, told me in an email that steel frame construction helped the permitting process because the site is in a 120 mph wind zone near the ocean.

Modern Eco-Smart Challenger in Alberta

Manitoba-based Conquest Manufacturing recently installed this three-module retreat on a serene hillside site in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta.  The 1,050 square-foot cottage was built based on a design by Herbert Enns and features comprehesive mountain views and a view of the historic Frank Slide.

m2 Green Prefab from Method Homes

It’s been a while since we last mentioned Method Homes, but the company has built a number of green prefabs recently that deserve some mention.  Last December, the company installed this modern modular home, referred to as m2, on a picturesque mountain site in Glacier, Washington.

Designed by Interface Studio Architects, The Modules is a student apartment building in a double-H shape specifically designed to allow natural lighting in all of the rental units.

Tiny Eco Modern Cabana Now for Sale!

Speaking of tiny prefabs, Modern Cabana — the same company behind last year’s Sunset Modern Cottage Idea House — has a 10’x12′ demo cabana for sale.  The UC 10×12 model retails from $16,375, but this demonstration version is selling with a 25% discount.  The Modern Cabana includes a french door, clear cedar siding, denim wall insulation, rigid roof insulation, maple interior paneling, and bamboo flooring.
