Lakefront WeeHouse on the East Coast


For those of you on the East Coast, there’s now a weeHouse on Seneca Lake in New York that’s available for rent. The Finger Lakes prefab features a bamboo interior, Kohler fixtures, Anderson windows, and a small footprint carrying 1,000 square feet of space. That’s two bedrooms and two bathrooms and pretty much all the relaxation one could handle.

Studio Created with One Prefab Module


A few months ago, we mentioned that PieceHomes was using green pieces, or extra modules, to help people expand or remodel existing homes.  Recently, the company sent an eP: Studio module to Venice, where it was installed above a site-built garage.  It arrived mostly complete — the siding needed to be applied — and was forklifted into place.  Check out the finished interior below …

Cabin Fever, a Florida-based company with an office in California, makes some slick green structures that can be used as weekend retreats, home offices, extra bedrooms, sheds, and anything else along these lines. Shown here is the Maxwell Cabin. It’s a 320 square-foot model that sells from $32,500, depending on options.

Flexible Eco Prefab for Emerging Ghana


Besting the efforts of nearly 3,100 architects worldwide, a team involving blaanc of Portugal and João Caeiro of Mexico won the Open Source House design competition with their entry “Emerging Ghana.” All of the entries are available online and Emerging Ghana, as a pilot project, is expected to be built by the end of this year.

Natural FSC Certified Flooring from Mafi


If you’re in the market for an engineered, wide-plank, natural flooring, Mafi is a great place to start.  The company uses FSC-certified woods that are treated with organic, natural oils (and no lacquer).  As a result, Mafi is “breathable,” “warm,” durable, and will not cup, gap, warp, or fail.  The Colorado-based company has operations on both the east and west coast and can create a floor to suit your project perfectly.
