Off-The-Grid Shelter Built in a Challenging Terrain

Building in remote locations of the world often calls for off-the-grid solutions, which builders envision in different ways. The mountain shelter recently built by the architecture firm Archaeus of Romania offers one such ingenious solution. The shelter is called Călțun Shelter and was built in July 2015 in the Southern Carpathians mountain range, at an altitude of 6,889 ft (2,100 m). Amsterdam Gets First 3D Printed Cabin

Amsterdam-based firm DUS Architects has recently completed a tiny guesthouse, which was printed rather than built. It is intended to be rented out on a short-term basis, is fully equipped with all modern conveniences and even features a small garden and an outdoor bathtub. The structure is called Urban Cabin, and was created using a special 3D printing technology developed by the firm that built it. (more…)

Car Maker Moves in on Small and Functional Home Market

The people behind the famous Mini have designed an urban home, which seeks to alleviate the problem of urban overcrowding. It makes perfect sense that the maker of ultra urban cars should make this step, and the only real question is why didn’t they tackle it sooner? Tiny Home That Features a Rock Climbing Wall Façade

A big part of the decision to downsize to a tiny mobile home is the ability to live a more adventurous lifestyle, which might not be possible when tied down to a traditional home and mortgage. This was also the reason why Breck and Kelsey, a couple from Mississippi, opted to live full time in a tiny home. Their so-called Tiny Adventure Home was designed and built by the firm Tiny Heirloom, and has many ingenious features, such as a real rock climbing wall on the exterior, since both the owners are avid climbers.
