Integration of Lake View Residence with Landscape is Like Hand in Glove

This 5,900 square foot home for a family of four that looks onto the Bright Leaf Preserve in Austin, Texas is a recipient of the 2013 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Housing Award in the One and Two Family Custom category.

Designed by Alterstudio Architecture, the Lake View Residence sits amongst live oaks and connects its residence to the surrounding landscape through the use of a window wall and skylights, dynamic spatial transitions that optimize cross ventilation, FSC-certified woods (mahogany cabinetry and longleaf pine floors).

Sustainable features include tankless water heaters, reflective TPO roofing, a photovoltaic array, geothermal HVAC systems,  cellular foam insulation, and the use of reclaimed woods.
