The Patina of Prefab on the Blanco River

This is the Blanco River House by Austin-based Ma Modular.  The home, located in Wimberley, Texas, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, 1,400 square feet, and tons of outdoor deck space.  Ma Modular delivered the prefab home with 2×6 exterior wall construction, Gerkin windows with thermally broken frames, a Galvalume double-lock standing-seam metal roof, and an Energy Star heating and cooling system, etc.  All together, this home was built for $140 per square foot.

I love Ma Modular homes.  I wish that more of the pre-fabs would take this company as the go to for the quintessential pre-fab home.

Nice to see I can add a comment again.  Well I had to change my email, I guess some sites don’t like oppositional view points.

I am not spamming I just have a different mindset of green “fanatics.”  One it is not green or sustainable they are catch phrases for lay people and are more of a gimmick.  If it is designed properly from an Architect it is just reffered to as done the correct way.  Another way of looking at it.  People who use the terms, “green/sustainable” are more into using them to claim they are helping the planet.  Like owning a prius with a green bumpersticker.  They are just as bad for the environment as a gas only car.

I use this site to see contemporary architectural design and comment if I like or don’t like.  Then I get banned for 1 “negative” (not the same view as the site) comment, sad.

I get a “This content is currently unavailable” error on the “More photos” link. It is a neat little prefab, I like the way how they use the wood. I wonder though why the windows are so tiny. It reminds me of a bunker. I’m also afraid that men of average height won’t be able to look out of the window while standing.

Hmmm … can’t figure that out.  It’s still working on various computers when I try the link.  You can get to the album via the Ma Modular Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/ma-modular/288219029546
