Oregon-based Viridian Wood Products, maker of shipping pallet flooring, recently introduced a line of new architectural-grade veneer panels made with reclaimed North American wood. The 4′x8′ panels include old-growth redwood previously used in wine tanks, Oregon black walnut reclaimed from urban salvage, and old-growth Douglas fir from warehouse deconstruction.
Here’s a quick update on the status of Alley House 2, which we discussed in August this year. Developed by Cascade Built, the modular prefab home was designed by David Foster Architects and assembled by Method Homes with an aim for LEED Platinum certification. The modules dropped this month, and the home should be ready for occupancy in about January 2012.
California-based Water Wise Group makes the Aqua2use Greywater System, which was selected recently as a Top-10 Green Product for 2012 by Environmental Building News and GreenSpec. The product is meant to be a cost-effective way to save water and could help a family of four conserve up to 40,000 gallons of water annually through the reuse of washing machine, shower, and bath water.
