Hey Preston, any ideas on how expensive it is to make your house ‘Passive’?
Steve,
Costs can vary. In EU between 0-7% for houses. However they already have stricter energy standards than North America.
Stateside, it depends on project, location and basis of design. Numbers we’ve seen from other people are ~5%-15%. Higher end for shoehorning an already designed code minimum poorly designed house through phpp. Lower end for those projects already insulating above minimum and utilizing smart design/ orientation. For high end projects, were finding cost is fairly negligible.
Thanks!
