Dash is a new LED task light by Details, a Steelcase company, that was designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners. The modern lamp is said to be the first LED task lamp to achieve BIFMA Level 1 certification — it has a mercury-free LED and PVC-free wiring — and made with 32% recycled content. Dash [$] includes a 3,500 K, 8-watt LED and a 50,000-hour rated life. It has a 32″ horizontal and 22 3/4″ vertical reach.

The work was performed by Seattle-based Green Canopy Homes which takes existing homes in walkable neighborhoods and transforms them with high-performance upgrades and a touch of community design. They all carry an Energy Performance Score and Built Green certification, and many of them have some geeky features like real-time energy monitoring, a digital homeowner’s manual, and on-site solar power.
CalStar Products, maker of award-winning fly ash bricks, this week announced a new paver that can be used in LEED projects in order to obtain credits for recycled content, regional materials, and stormwater design. The paver, which is suitable for intense uses such as parking lots, alleys, crosswalks, and plazas, is made with 40% post-industrial recycled material and comes in several different colors.
