This is House Ocho, a project in Carmel, California, designed by Feldman Architecture. The home is beautiful and modern with striking clean lines, though perhaps its most prominent detail is a lively green roof that hides the structure in the hillside of a nature preserve in the Santa Lucia Mountains.
I walked the exhibitor floor at the National Green Building Conference & Expo in Salt Lake City and found a few interesting products like this dRain Joint by Arvis Eco. This is a rainwater management product — specifically, an inserted drainage channel — for pour-in-place surfaces in driveways and parking lots.
Update 7/1/2011: Dwell Show Prefab to be Sold on eBay.
Looks like progress is being made on the new showhouse planned for Dwell on Design 2011. The 550-square foot prefab has a lively modern design and will be completed by an all-star project team – OneBuild (a new modular startup), pieceHomes (led by architect Jonathan Davis), and ecofabulous (led by designer Zem Joaquin). The showhouse will be auctioned through eBay with proceeds to benefit Global Green USA.
