As spring approaches, folks hankering for vitamin D will find a way to get outdoors. Lounging around may require furniture and Haskell, a new design firm, wants to help with its new Series 9 collection of outdoor furnishings made in Southern California. Series 9 includes a chaise, chair, occasional table, side table, and the “sultan”– a low 8″ riser seating option for up to two adults.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently published the results of new research into what Americans are looking for in their next home. The electronic survey — The New Home in 2015 — went to 3,019 builders, designers, architects, and marketing specialists, and 238 of the total pool responded. From the responses, the NAHB determined that new homes will be smaller, greener, and more casual.
Latitude 38, a design-build firm out of Charlottesville, started this home on spec until the current owners, Mark Hampton and Jay Alexander, fell in love, according to local magazine Abode. Montrose House has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, 1,837-square feet, and an open layout on two levels. Hampton and Alexander walked through the place while under construction and immediately connected with the layout.
