Old Containers Get a Scenic New Life

This scenic observatory, referred to as OceanScope or ContainerScope, presents a beautiful reuse of old shipping containers in Songdo New City, Incheon, South Korea.  First noticed at and according to Dezeen, OceanScope was designed by Minsoo Lee and Keehyun Ahn of AnL Studio from three, old, cheap shipping containers.

The containers have been planted at 10, 30, and 50 degree tilts to provide different views of one of the largest harbors in the country.

Contrasting the clean black exterior with the blank interior and colorful lighting is a nice touch.  What that does, at least from this perspective, is it takes the ugly (if any) out of exposed and sometimes rusted steel and gives it new life and light.
