I just love this grain silo home — it's a fantastic example of adaptive reuse. In 2007, Gruene Homestead Inn purchased the 1940s grain silo and remodeled the interior and exterior. The result is authentic and incredible. Can you imagine chilling on that front porch, enjoying a little Texas summer? The Silo includes one bedroom and one bathroom in a loft-type setup for the rental price of $175/$210 a night.
This Silo House isn't as lavish as Earl's Montesilo Home, but I bet it's a treat to stay in. Check out The Silo if you're ever going to New Braunfels, Texas.

Wow very cute little house. I work near an industrial area with lots of shipping containers and train cars, I have also seen nice little places like this one shown made out of those same shipping containers online. Nice way to recycle.

Not a reclaimed silo, but original use designed for a home in Woodland, Utah.
Enjoy
Ori – Earl’s Montesilo House! We included a link to that video in our recent article of the home. Nice video …
Fantastic! When I see a well designed small space like that it makes me wonder if we couldn’t squeeze the 2 of us and our 3 100 lb dogs into something like that…. But I’m sure my wife would want to kill me after 10 minutes there LOL
would need to be able and want to spend a lot of time outdoors
This cant be very big sq ft wise. My wife and I have an old 1916 bungalow …its just under 1000 sq ft and while its comfortable for me, my wife thinks its small. After I redo the interior and make every possible space usable, I think she will feel right at home. This silo looks AWESOME!
I think it is great to reuse buildings. On Austin Street in Georgetown, TX there is an architect who designs silos into homes very beautifully.
Great pictures!
I have two bins like that for sale, $500 each can send pictures 507-995-9296 Minnesota here.
what would it cost to get one to central NJ?
Our grange is looking for a building for our thrift store
Pretty cool, I lived in an 800 sq ft bungalow with wife, 2 kids, 5 dogs, 2 cats and a python, for 15 years. Now the kids & python are gone, we have 3 dogs and now live in a 1800 sq ft home, and need more room. Still very very cool

just curious….did the kids go before the python?? haha
must feel like a mansion!
that’s typical… but not logical… haha
I am trying to pare down…
LOVE THIS, but have a question concerning a silo home. Do they have central air? Would be hot living in a metal structure in the summer if not.
