The Galleries at Turney, although completed back in mid-2007, have been getting some good press over the last year for good reason. First, they're ultra modern, super slick, and hard to miss. Second, the eight homes were the first to receive LEED-H certification in the entire state of Arizona. Third, all eight detached units, as of about December 2008, have sold out. They're gone, which means smartly designed, modern, somewhat luxurious homes can sell, even in a tough real estate market.
Each residence at the Galleries is approximately 2,000 square feet and features 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, not to mention spacious garages built into a compact footprint (each home is two levels). They all sold at prices in the range of $700k – $850k, and some of the green aspects include using recycled and reusable materials, utilizing passive heating and cooling techniques, installing a 4 kW solar PV system for on-site green energy, opting for efficient windows with natural views, and stipulating Energy Star appliances throughout.
The Galleries at Turney was developed by Modus Development, designed by [merz] project, and built by Urban Edge Builders. In addition, as of about November 2008, Modus Development has partnered with American Solar Electric to provide grid-connected PV systems for the houses. Can't wait to see this team's next finished project!
